Lehman College, the APEX
The Apex Center athletic facility at Lehman College is a striking architectural landmark defined by its segmented convex roof, which sweeps downward toward the campus and connects to a concrete-and-glass academic structure on the street side. A large, asymmetrical roof opening frames the main entrance, creating a dramatic gateway that has become an enduring symbol of the college.
OVERLY supplied a Batten B stainless steel roof system using 22ga (0.0293″) Type 321 stainless steel with a 2D finish. Panels were primarily 15′-0″ long with 33 ¾” batten spacing, providing clean lines and durability across the complex curved surface. The system was well-suited to accommodate the building’s unique geometry while maintaining consistent performance.
Originally installed prior to 2005, the roof continues to perform effectively. In 2017, OVERLY supported the facility with replacement snowguards, reinforcing long-term system reliability.
